Prom Proper Prior Planning It is dawn, in the middle of the week and frigid. Prom advisers parent Deb Vrohidis and secretary Jacki Delahunt walk into the school and get ready for a hectic Wed. morning. Accompanying the advisers are 50 girls, just as excited about prom as the other. Prom committee is a before school activity led by Vrohdis and Delahunt. The efforts of prom committee go to organizing and planning prom. The theme for prom is currently undecided, however presentations are being made and presented every Wed. "Once they have come up with a theme, then away we go," said Vrohidis. The prom committee is working hard to plan the best prom possible. "I don’t want to leave anyone out of the planning part of this giant event. With 2,000 students in the school, one committee of 50 is trying to be their voice," said Vrohidis. With 50 girls working hard with two experienced advisers, this years prom is promising. Community church art exhibit Local artists are showing the Stillwater community what they got at the Oakridge Community Church Gallery of Gospel Art. Showcased at this gallery is the art of four local artists. The art displayed demonstrates how all life is sacred. The exhibit is open for visitors from 11a.m. - 2 p.m. Mon. through Wed. and from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Thurs. You don’t need to be a member of the church, everyone is welcome to come view the wonderful talent of artists in the Stillwater Community. As stated on agapearts.net, "What made me truly excited about the gallery was my research and preparation for a sermon series on the Christian worldview. As I considered how such a worldview accounted for the arts..." said Jim Odens, lead Pastor of Oakridge Community Church. The group exhibit will be open for viewers through Jan. 16. In which they can come to view many different kinds of art. As stated on StillwaterPatch.com, "The Oakridge Gallery of Gospel Art showcases a selection of Christian art in such mediums as ceramics, oil paintings, wood and metal sculpture, photography, poetry and mixed media." Oakridge Community Church welcomes their exhibit to everyone to come view what great artistic talent there is in the Stillwater community. Senior year is a blur. It is a year for making those last high school memories, taking the last high school classes, and having those last high school experiences. It goes by so fast. But, the year is also very important. Senior year is a year for making decisions, decisions that will be important for the rest of students’ lives. But often, when the time comes to make these decisions, students are unprepared. READ

After many years of talk and no action, volunteers finally decided to do something about the 25-year-old structure of the Afton-Lakeland Elementary warming house. The building needed repairs to be done on the roof and draining system. The plan was to finish the remodeling and fix the building before the winter skating started again. READ
